The List by Siobhan Vivian Review
Recently I have read Siobhan Vivian's novel ; The List . The plot of the list consists of this of this old high school tradition called the list . The whole object of the list is to inform the whole student body of Mount Washington High School of who is the prettiest and ugliest girl of each grade . After the revelation of this year's list , the plot unfolds by allowing the readers into the psyche of each girl on the list be they beauty or beast. The story also gives the reader good insight into the psychology of various teenage female.
So as the reader continues to follow the plot they begin to see the personal conflict arise for each individual who is on either side of the the list as well as how it effects them as they are in different grades and the Homecoming dance is approaching. The list also opens up the locked away pasts of some of the girls listed.
All the while , the new principal of Mount Washington High school is trying to catch the ellusive cupret for the cruel annual tradition .
My advice to those who may think it's a cliche teenage girl angst book : "Don't judge a book by its cover" , literally . I found the book rather intruiging and would recommend it to any young person open to looking through a new perspective.
