Captain Phillips: based on a true story review

Yesterday I watched the relatively recent film; Captain Phillips. The features Toma Hanks As the protagonist : Captain Phillips , while the rest of the cast are actors of not the same level of popularity and Somali-American actors playing the Somali Pirates. The film was was released October, 11, 2013, which also happened to be the date of m birth. The plot of the film features the true story of Captain Phillips who was a captain of a cargo ship that was hijacked by Somali Pirates and then held hostage , while waiting for a negotiation of a ransom that would suffice for the Somali Pirates.
The film was insightful as it depicted other sides of the pirates other than being crew villainous robbers. The film showed how  poor Somali  citizens could be easily lured into to a "job" that would provide enough income for their impoverished families.  One of the Pirates even explained that large fishing industries monopolize all the fish , leaving a scarce supply for the people of Somalia , whose only options seemed to be fishing or looting given that the country could be recognized as not a fully developed nation.
All the above being said, it makes those who feel left with only that alternative seem sympathetic given that some of the newly recruited crew members may be as young as teenagers who are looking to make some money and don't exactly come from a country that offers summer jobs. The impoverish conditions of the country were also made apparent during the seen of the recruitment. The film was a good selection if you like suspense films, but more importantly it should prompt the UN to find a better solution to Somali pirates via helping create employment.
