Group Interpretation: Patch of Blue Review
On Thursday March 13 ,  all theater classes and a majority of the English classes went to see Ms.  Stroemer's  Group Interpretation cast , perform the group interpretation of the well renowned  novel , and film ; A Patch of Blue. Group interpretations are more unique and differ from other play in that they are restricted to certain rules.
The number one rule is that they are not allowed to have scenery that suggests that they are at a certain setting.or in a certain era. In addition to restrictions on time and setting, the cast can't wear anything that suggests what era or place the story occurs. The third rule about the cast and their presentation is that the actors are required to use "off-stage focus".  Off -stage focus is where theactors have to look parrell to eachother or look as two people woud look while in front of a mirror. The cast must also share lines as an ensemble and have to have their musicians out of sight. Above all the rules, the play must stay at exactly thirty minutes, no more or no less .
The play Patch of Blue , is centered around a blind young white woman( Selina) who falls for a good natured Samaritan , she encounters while working in the park.  Unbeknowst to her, her night in shining armour( Gordon) is a blackman, which creates a societal cconflict due to the fact that they are living in the 60s. The play also explores things like social class and one's home environment . The element of Love is depicted in an unique instrument in the midst of a complicated scenerio and time of  strife.
The actress Montanna Sandstom, an H-F Thespian who was the damsel in distress featured in last yar's Group Interpretation; Tyranny on Trial , played the meek and distressed Selina Darcy . Joshua Miller played the kind hearted and kindred soul; Gordon, who shows that true love overcomes fear of society's taboos, and will compell you to get involved in a situation people tell you to shy away from .
The ensemble definetly highlighted the wide range of non prop usage , when they used body percussion, audible noises or the instruments that were allowed , under the set.   The script was intrecately written as the audience is emersed in the concept of love through different eyes, no pun intended.  As a whole the execution of Patch of Blue was done unlike any way you'll ever see it in an a typical theater or even on film.

Alphebeticaly ordered story

After venturing through the woods during Midsummer while I saw the Northern Lights , lead me to consult the butterflies. Butterflies spelled spelled out only one word: "Lorax". Considered this peice of information , I did and then came to my epiphany; "Lorax" the guardian of the trees and forest". Directly two miles north of me  was the the treehouse of the Lorax,.
Elated, I made all haste to go and seek the knowledge of the Lorax. Further than the entry way of the forest I traveeled , keeping my eyes peeled for any sign of a tree house. Going uphill was the most difficultpart of my journey across the forest. Heavy footed, I tudged through the three foot grass. Ignoring the laws of gravity was very difficult , because 180 pounds can really weigh you down.
Jogging now  I see that the tree house is only five yards away. Knocking on the door had now not just been an aspiration, but now a tangible reality.  Lorax peers through window blinds and asks who is there at the door. Memorable was the moment that I saw the legendary Lorax  scrutinizing me with his wide blue eyes.  No sooner that he had opened the door did he bid me to come into his treehouse. Oggling with  my eyes full of  excitement, I rushed to the inside of the treehouse and made my head do a 360.  Probing me with questions, the Lorax inquired of my purose. " Quest to find the story behind the legends of nature", I told him. " Revelation of that will come after doing a task" , he said. "Seat yourself on a stump right under the moon". "Talk to me once you have seeen a shooting star and a row of stars align". "Unless you can find a four leafed clover and toss it in a ripples pon , when the moon is full. "Very interesting", I replied. "Where could I find a four leafed clover?", I asked. "Xana ", she is the keeper of the four leaf clovers , who lives in a cavern where she keeps watch. "Your certain it's a cavern? " proceeded the nod I received froom the Lorax.  Zealously I glided outof the treehouse in search of Xana's cavern.

Blood Plus:the anime (Review )

Blood Plus is an aime in which the main protagonist ; Saya fights the vampire like creatures called Chiroptereans. The Chiroptereans are teredactal like creatures that prey on unsuspecting humans who get drained of blood and or get dismembered if they haven't already transformed into Chiroptereans. Saya is an amnesiac who is forced to try and piece back together the puzzle of the past while working with the RedSheild , a government agency devoted to fight the Chiroptereans since the war in Vietnam that took place in the 60s.
Along the way, Saya and her two brothers Riku and Kay have to deal with emotional issues as their family undergoes struggle and tragedy along the mission of wiping out the Chiropteran race from the face of earth.  However, unbeknowst  to Saya and the Red Sheild , there is an evil French scientist who is dispensing this potentially harmful drug callled D 67 , and they are using young children as their guinea pigs.
I definetly like the aspect of fqacing your history and using it as a piece of identity that will influence how you will approach adversity in the future. Saya definetly shows an inner strentgh that she tends to hold on to during the times that the odds seem not in her favor or a situation seems beyond power, while knowing that she is truly the only hope for humanity.
Blood Plus also gives you an adrenaline rush that leaves you wanting to see the next episode as many twists and turns begin to unfold making rthe anime series even more compelling.  For those anime fans who like a strong protagonist as well as an intriguing romantic plot line, watch Blood plus.

The Secret Garden(Korean Drama) Review

The Secret Garden is a Korean drama where a action film stunts woman crosses the paths of the wealthy CEO of the company that her best friend and roommate is employed . At first the maincharacter, the stunts woman Gil Ra Im , finds the CEO rudebecause she thinks that he is just some arrogance rich guy, but after his identity is revealed , she starts to learn that his blatant rudeness is a rouse to hide his effections for her. Things then get out of hand after the two go to a strange deserted restraunt in the woods callled "The Mysterious Garden" and end up buying medicinal alcohols which they drink later on that night and end up switching bodies.
The Secret Garden is a rather compelling romantic drama because it shows the CEO being blown away by a girl who'sconsidered socially beneath him and now he's for the first time learning what it is to be smitten with love for someone. I alos like the comedic aspects of the drama that is greated by The CEOs cousin, a nearly washed oup Korean Pop star  named Oska, who is on the verge of being exposed for lip syncing and desperately needs Gil Ra Im , also a winner of his sweepstakes , in order to revive his inmage as a heart throb, as she is a huge die-hard fan of his. This arrangement makes a humorous love triangle, which gets even funnier when the two maincharacters switch bodies with someone of the opposite gender , inviting all the awkwardness that comes when somebody has possesion of yur body .
I found some f the CEO's rudeness a little too abrasive as there were many instances where he came off a a complete jerk to Gil Ra Im , rather than being a sophisticated heir with game.In the same token their constant friction makes you as the audience , want to know just how things are gong to actually pan out and when wilthey be up front about their feeelings with eachother. All in all I would give The Secret Garden three stars as a personal rating.
Time Travel: episode two
Michael stood in the royal kitchen peeling onions and intently watching and listening to the man who intended to buy his girlfriend Sheherezade, and addd her to his harem, of presumptiously unhappy and oppressed women. He needed to find a decent reason to leave the kitchen nd then find a way to the Midwives' chambers.
So without  much more thought, he "accidentally "  cut his thumb with the sheers he was using and began to howl and squirm. He revealed the blood escaping his hand to the overseer who relunctantly allowed him to leave the kitchen in order to get a clauoth. Too bad the overseer lived before the old pretend ketchup was blood trick!
As Michael traversed down the dimlitted hallway, he turned into the nearest room, which ended up being a room with Eygyptian carvings on the wall. he room was where the hystory of all the Eyptian monarchs had their lives and the hitory of their rule recorded. For a brief momen he had forgotten about the mission at hand , and got caught up iin reading the carvings followed by photo taking with the flash on his phone turned off.
After coming to himself he quietly but swiftly looked roungd for a room filled with women.
Meanwhile , Scheherezade had hidden in what she believed was some sort of closet , in Cleopatra's closet. Fortunately for her, since the room was practically pitch black and she was nowhere near the entry of her chamber, she kept to only peering through the cracks of the doors. The person she saw nearing her mistresses' room , was inded a man , which quenched any doubts she had prior his ebntrance into the royal chambers. Then she heard the man speak:"Cleopatra , my love . My heart has longed for you, and now you have born your love for me in the form of a son!"
Scheherezade watched intently , waiting for the moment for which she came for: the momentwhen he presented the famed queen with a bracelett. A bracett said to be thecolor of jade and encrested with various gems. But then all of a suddenshe heard Cleopatra awaken from her sleep and reply to her beloved husband: "I have longed for you too, and now the gods have blessed us with a son, and heir from your line. " "Here." Julius Ceasar said . "I have a gift of love and appreciation for you, my love ."  At last  he  revealed what the whole trip was for, the legendary bracelett! Now all she needed to do was to snatch the bracelett when her majesty was sleeping and then gpo find Michael and they would be off and on there way to making a fortune.!!
Her opportunity seemed to be even better  now that somebody seeemed to be causing a ruckus in one of the royal halls and Julius Ceasar went to go ask the palace guards to see what the source of the disturbance was and Cleopatra fell back asleep.  Unfortunately, the cause of the ruckus was Michael who was purposely trying to create a diversion in order to get to Scheherezade  in time . However, he was now starting to overhear the increasing volume of soldiers feet marching through the halls!, any room filled with a bunch of women could possibly be the room that held his beloved. Time was ticking and there wasn't a moment to loose, so he dunked into what he believed was a harem and wqas met with several gasping women.
Michael made begging gestures , pleading with the women to not reveal him , some of the younger members of  the harem( who found him attractive)  went even further and dresses him in long royal scarves that would cover up his face and most of his fisique . Then one member blew the candle out and all fell silent   until they heard the marching feet of the palace guards disscipate. Michael waited several more minutes before deciding to leave the harem , but he still kept his disguise of being a harem member.

He then with a brisk pace finally found  a room that was so grandiose that it was undeniably the royal chamber of Cleopatra.Using all the espionage he had seen on Mission Impossible, Micheal had successfully made into the royal chambers past the royal guards and was now on his way to finishing a part he thought Scherazade would not be able to handle should they remain in Eygpt but for a few more hours.
She on the other hande saw that their mission was at the most opportuned moment now that she had successfully taken the bracerlett and saw Michael hiding in the room . As soon as he was near the closet, she reached her hands out and pulled him back with one hand over his mouth . Then while they were both in the closet she silently revealed the bracelett to him . Michael was elated that now they could hurry up in leave but not before telling his girlfriend how high the steaks were: "Babe we have to get out of here FAST ". " I"m missing from the kitchen, I've caused a rukuss and finally a old creepy perve guy wants to buy you and make you his concubine."
-"Wait hold on, what?!!!!" Scherazade said , oh no , that's not going to happen, we need to leave."
with the same espionage Michael used to get in the royal chamber, he used to make a makeshift rope that lead out of an unguarded window.  As soon as they climbed  down to what they thought was their home free escape, they were apprehended by the old pervy man from the kitchen , and his companion.

"Aha!!! Cuaght you at last!!!" "Where do you think you're going my sweet?"" the old pervy man with missing teeth said to Scherazade as she struggled and squirmed . "I knew you were no cook!" jeered the companion of the old man at  Michael with his quick thinking yelled:"Hey what is that?!!!" The old man and guard foolishly looked allowing Michael to punch the guard in the nose and Scherazade to step of the oldman's feet. With that they jumped into the time machine and hit the first year they could touch .
Unfortunately after going past a few centuries, the lever on the time machine was jammed and then simultaneously the generated temporarily short circuted . Michael and Scheherezade were then thrusted into the middle ages during the time of Sir William Wallace's rebellion against King Longshanks of England and his tyranny. "Great" , Scheherezade said. "We have to find a way to jumopstart the generator and unjam the lever!" "We should probably do before we get spotted or caught in one of their battles or something!"
Michael nodded frantically , then went to work trying to unjam the lever. Scherezade kept praying that she would not fall into a similar predicament as she had in Eygpt. Only one way to find out : read the next episode.

The List by Siobhan Vivian Review

Recently I have read Siobhan Vivian's  novel ; The List .  The plot of the list consists of this of this old high school  tradition called the list . The whole object of the list is to inform the whole student body of Mount Washington High School of who is the prettiest and ugliest girl of each grade . After the revelation of this year's list , the plot unfolds by allowing the readers into the psyche of each girl on the list be they beauty or beast. The story also gives the reader good insight into the psychology of various teenage female.
So as the reader continues to follow the plot they begin to see the personal conflict arise for each individual who is on either side of the  the list as well as how it effects them as they are in different grades and the Homecoming dance is approaching. The list also opens up the locked away pasts of some of the girls listed.
All the while , the new principal of Mount Washington High school is trying to catch the ellusive cupret for the cruel annual tradition .
My advice to those who may think it's a cliche teenage girl angst book : "Don't judge a book by its cover" , literally . I found the book rather intruiging and would recommend it to any young person open to looking through a new perspective.
